UD Announces A-10 Schedule
DAYTON - For the second straight year, the University of Dayton men's basketball team will play record number of nationally-televised games in the 2014-15 regular season. After having 17 regular season games that were seen on various networks last year, the Flyers will play a school-record 21 contests on national television in 2014-15. This news, along with the full Atlantic Conference schedule, was announced today by the University and the A-10. "Coming off an Elite Eight season, we're very excited about the exposure opportunities created for our men's basketball program," UD Vice-President and Director of Athletics Tim Wabler said. "The fact is that our television partners recognize that we are a valuable commodity. We not only bring our local market viewership like no one else in the country, we are gaining viewership nationally." The 21 network games this season are tied with VCU for the most in the Atlantic 10 this year. Counting three games in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, Dayton will play eight games on the ESPN family of networks, seven on CBS Sports Network, four on NBC Sports Network and two on SNY. In addition, every game of the A-10 Men's Basketball Championship that will be played in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn will also be nationally televised. The championship game will be televised by CBS for the sixth consecutive year. The A-10 will have a league-record 75 nationally-televised games for the second straight year, up from 56 just two seasons ago. The Flyers’ “ESPN season” will begin at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off when they play Texas A&M in the opening game of the tournament on Nov. 20 on ESPNU. Television for other games in San Juan will be determined by tournament results. UD will also appear on one of the ESPN networks at Arkansas (Dec. 13, ESPN2), at UMass (Jan. 29, ESPNU), at George Washington (Feb. 6, ESPN2), vs. Saint Joseph’s (Feb. 19, ESPNU) and at VCU (Feb. 28, ESPN2).
CBS Sports Network will carry the Dayton games vs. Georgia Tech (Dec. 23), vs. Ole Miss (Dec. 30), at St. Bonaventure (Jan. 7), at Davidson (Jan. 20), at Saint Louis (Feb. 10), vs. Rhode Island (Mar. 3) and at La Salle (Mar. 7). Dayton will open the A-10 season at home against Duquesne on Saturday, Jan. 3. That game will be televised on NBC Sports Network. Other NBCSN games are vs. Saint Louis (Jan. 17), vs. St. Bonaventure (Feb. 14), and at Duquesne (Feb. 21). The Flyers’ two SNY/Atlantic 10 network games are at Fordham (Jan. 10) and vs. Richmond (Jan. 24). A complete Flyer television schedule will be announced at a later date, along with all game times.
