500 Jobs Open at Dayton Racino Hiring Event
DAYTON-- Job seekers; 500 new positions will be up for grabs in Dayton starting Monday June 16.
Hollywood Gaming at the Dayton Racino is holding a hiring event at the Job Center on Edwin C. Moses Boulevard from 1-7 p.m.
The Racino will open in the fall, but the company is getting a head start on their hiring.
"They're good jobs, and its a good company that's coming in here and they're really putting time in to develop their workforce," said Mark Anderson with the organization Ohio Means Jobs.
Candidates who attend the event will meet with the employer based on their skills.
They will be hiring facilities technicians, stewards, cooks, bartenders, cocktail servers, player services/cashiers, VLT attendants/technicians, and security officers.
"I'm going to come best dressed, smiling from ear to ear, I'm going to get that job!" said job seeker Deon Carter at Dayton's Job Center on Friday.
He's hoping to get hired on as a security officer.
Carter graduated from Fortis College in April, but says finding a job that will put more than minimum wages in his pocket has been tough.
"It's a big relief because like I said I've been struggling lately. I got out of school and the money pretty much evaporated," Carter said.
Candidates who want to attend the event Monday are being asked to preregister online at OhioMeansJobs.com/Montgomery, and fill out an application.
"At that point, we can understand who you are, and what type of positions you're interested in," Anderson added, "But I always encourage any job seeking candidate to bring a resume and come prepared to speak to someone because you never know how many people you're going to meet and how many opportunities you're going to get."
DAYTON -- Hollywood Gaming will host a large hiring event on Monday, June 16. The event runs from 1:00pm until 7:00pm at the Montgomery County Job Center on Edwin C. Moses Blvd.
There will be opportunities for more than 500 full-time and part-time positions, including VLT attendants and technicians, bartenders, cooks, security officers, cocktail servers, and facilities technicians.
