Fiance Talks About Xenia Woman Hit, Killed by Car

XENIA -- A woman is struck and killed by a car right outside her home, and the driver takes off.

"I come back I see her laying in the road, she didn't move. I pulled her up in the yard and I yelled to John to call 911," said George Shanks who is still numb.

"She was crushed, she was run over."

On Center Street in Xenia Saturday night, Shanks watched as his fiance Theresa lay dying.

"I told her I loved her... I hugged her and told her I loved her. That's when she was laying in the yard."

Theresa was just 42, a mother of two boys. The Coroner has not released her last name.

"It's hard, I mean, it's very hard."

Theresa was hit around 5:00 PM Saturday. Richard McClelland called 911.

"I was shocked when I saw her laying there, immediately when I saw her I thought she was gone already," said McClelland.

Paramedics were able to get her to the hospital, but she died shortly after. Police are working to determine if the driver hit Theresa intentionally or by accident. This truck was towed from the scene, and investigators are calling it a "vehicle of interest."

"Why didn't you stop? Instead of just leaving her lay there like a piece of trash," asked Shanks to the person driving.

As George waits for the numbness to wear off, he cannot help but think of all that could have been.

"I mean I love the girl to death, we were supposed to go to my kids' today. We were supposed to get married next year. I mean it hurts. I still picture her laying in that road."

XENIA--Police say a woman was lying in the middle of Locust Street around 5pm Saturday.

She was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Police are calling her death suspicious.  It's unclear how she ended up in the street, but police have towed a truck as part of their investigation.

The victim has not yet been identified.
