Search Continues for Missing Teen

SPRINGFIELD -- The Clark County Sheriff's Office has release surveillance video of who they say is Mark Edwards entering the CVS at 2565 East Main Street in Springfield, where he is said to have purchased black hair dye.

It is suspected that 14-year-old Michaela Bruce, who is suspected to be with Edwards, might be using the hair dye to change the color of her blonde hair.

The suspect is seen in the video wearing a camouflage coat, a light-colored toboggan cap with two dark-colored stripes, and blue jeans.

SPRINGFIELD -- It's been 48 hours since 14-year-old Michaela Bruce and 44-year-old Mark Edwards disappeared.

Wednesday the Clark County Sheriff's Office brought in the U.S. Marshals Service to assist in the investigation.

"They are going to be checking some locations here in the state of Ohio, outside of Clark County, we want to leave no stone unturned," says Sheriff Gene Kelly.

Authorities believe the pair does not have a car, money or cell phones and without a state issued ID, Michaela cannot fly or buy a train ticket.

Sheriff Kelly says anyone hindering this investigation is committing a crime.

"Whoever has information or knowledge you're not helping the situation by harboring or helping them," says Kelly.

The U.S. Marshals service has ten men working this case and the Sheriff's Office has 20.

Around Springfield several people are aware of the case and know what this unlikely couple looks like.

"Keep an eye out and as many times as they flash that little girl's face and that guy's face on the tv you should know them people when you see them," says Kevin Johnson Sr. of Springfield.

If you see them, you are asked to call 911.

CLARK COUNTY -- Sheriff Gene Kelly said the U.S. Marshal Service has joined in the search for the missing 14-year-old girl.

Kelly said the Marshals will be able to take the search outside the borders of Clark County.

Michaela Bruce was reported missing Tuesday night and is believed to be with 44-year-old Mark Edwards. Bruce and Edwards disappeared together for a brief time in September 2013 and Edwards was facing felony charges from that incident. On Tuesday, he rejected a plea deal.

U.S. Marshal Peter Tobin said during an 11 a.m. Thursday news conference with Kelly that this search is a top priority for his organization.

Kelly also mentioned that Bruce is wearing braces, although most photos being broadcast by the media show her without braces.

K9 Units Brought in to Help Find Missing Teen, Suspect

SPRINGFIELD -- The manhunt is still underway in Clark County for a missing 14-year-old and the 44-year-old man police say she is on the run with.

This is not the first time the two have run off together.

Mark Edwards is facing felony charges for his relationship with Michaela Bruce.

Since daybreak Wednesday, deputies and K-9 teams have being scouring over every inch of Clark County for the duo.

Deputies have been hot on their pursuit since they ran off together Tuesday night.

"He could put her life at risk, in jeopardy. We don't know how he's going to survive so they try to rob, steal, take a car - we don't know what his mindset is at this point," Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelley said at a press conference Wednesday.

But a short car chase and a search of a hotel room still haven't led deputies to their whereabouts. The whirlwind search has led investigators to prepare for the worst.

Edwards is believed to be armed and dangerous.

"Right now, we have to believe unless they've stolen a car or received aid from someone. That they're on foot and not properly dressed for this cold weather," Kelley added.

If you see either Edwards or Bruce keep your distance and call police.
