AG's Office Receiving Numberous Complaints On Cancelled Mud Run
DAYTON -- A section of the Attorney General's office will be looking into complaints of race organizers with the Great American Mud Run who reportedly ran out of money days before the event.
Organizers canceled the event in Hocking Hills that was scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14. In a statement on their website they said there weren't enough participants and they ran out of money.
We took the concerns of people in the Miami Valley to the state Attoryney General's office to find out what's net.
They say after at least 18 complaints in the last couple of days, the Consumer Protection Section will look into the complaints.
And, they will try to reach a resolution between the organization and participants, which would hopefully mean getting your cash back.
Tanya Sanchez of Beavercreek was looking forward to the physical challenge.
"It's a lot of obstacles, getting dirty," Sanchez said.
She is out $160; it cost $80 to register for her and another $80 for her husband.
The Attorney General's Office says to contact your bank, but for Sanchez she was out of the legal time frame.
"They said since it's more than 60 days, they can't reimburse me," she said.
Sanchez sent ABC 22/FOX 45 the email she got from organizers that says she signed a policy that stated the run is not refundable for any reason, under any circumstances and that includes if it was canceled.
"It was just a legal way for them to tell me it's your responsibility to the disclaimer," she said.
We wanted to know if legal action could be taken, but the Attorney General's office wouldn't say; they would only reiterate they're trying to find a resolution with the organization.
