Community Mourning Death of 9-Month-Old Baby

WEST CARROLLTON -- A community is mourning after the mysterious death of a 9-month old baby boy.

West Carrollton Police are investigating the circumstances around baby Oliver Rebel-Glen Saylor's death.

The West Carrollton community is sick with unanswered questions and filled with memories of Oliver.

The neighbor who says she called 911, and wishes to remain unidentified, told us: "I'm never going to get that image out of my head. The blonde hair and his jammies and his blue face."

Tuesday afternoon, neighbors tell us they saw the child's 17-year-old mother run out of her front door frantically with Oliver in her arms.

"Screaming, hollering for help, 'help, my baby's not breathing!'" The 911 caller recalled. "I heard her say she was taking a nap and there was blankets around him."

Neighbors tell us the mother only made it to her neighbor's lawn before laying a lifeless Oliver in the grass and collapsing next to him.

It was shocking to all who witnesses it, and those who would soon find out.

Candy Coot's son has been dating Oliver's mother for six months. Two months ago the teenage mom and the baby moved in. Ever since, Candy has been like a grandmother to Oliver.

"I would sing 'Jesus Loves Me' to him and he would just crawl into my lap," Candy Coots recalled tearfully.

Those are moments that will now just be memories.

"He's going to be really missed. I just don't know what else to say. I just love him and he will always be in my heart," Candy Coots managed through tears.

The Montgomery County Coroner's Office will be performing an autopsy.
