Dayton Fire: "We are prepared to handle train derailment or explosion."

DAYTON-- The  Dayton Fire Department said they are "well prepared", if there would ever be a train derailment and explosion, like the one in Columbus.

100 families were evacuated in Columbus, after  freight cars full of ethanol  exploded, early Wednesday morning.    

Assistant Dayton Fire Chief Mike Caudill said firefighters do training exercises specifically  for  train  derailments  and explosions on a "regular basis" and use props like  rail cars in their training  exercises.
 
Darrel Lindsey's Dayton home sits within feet of railroad tracks.  He's  concerned,  what happened in Columbus,  could happen in his own  backyard.  

"I know if it comes off the tracks it would probably roll right into the house.  And who knows what they are carrying.  I  get paranoid all the time." He said. 
 
There are many rail lines that run through Montgomery County.
 
The Ohio Rail Commission said cars that travel  through our  state   carry  metals,  farm products, coal, and certain kinds of  chemicals.
