Top 22: Xenia's BoBo Jones
Xenia -- The Buccaneers are looking to get big impact on both sides of the ball from one standout player.
Bob DeLong and company return star safety BoBo Jones.
The Bowling Green commit is also going to see more time on offense this year.
Which is great news for returning quarterback Danny Naylor, to have another talented player at the skill positions.
This year Xenia is looking to improve upon last year's 4-6 record. In fact the program has finished better than 500 only once in the past 8 seasons. Something the seniors hope to change.
"This year we focused on us seniors being leaders," Jones said.
"And with having Danny come back, he started last year as a sophomore, he's become a great leader for our team. I just want to take this opportunity, because I know once I go on to play college ball that i won't be able to play two sides of the ball so i just want to make the best out of what i'm going to do here."
Head coach Bob DeLong added, "well, it takes your breath away sometimes in practice when he takes off because he's so fast. It makes your job a lot easier i'll tell you that. He's a motivated guy and an excellent player."
And I know what you're thinking, is his name really BoBo? The answer is no, it's Javon. But BoBo Jones just has an awesome ring to it. But the nickname goes back to before he ever picked up a football.
"The nickname came from when i was in preschool my teacher had to talk to my mom and dad, she's like, 'are you guys here to pick up BoBo?' and my mom and dad were like, 'BoBo, who's that?' and then she went and got me," Jones said.
"So my mom would call me BoBo just to play around and stuff and then everybody started saying it and it just stuck."
"It's got a ring to it," DeLong said.
"We always told him, you have to be good with a name like that. It's like a kid on the track with the fancy shoes, flashy shoes, don't be last. It just doesn't look good. And he's never last."
BoBo and the Buccaneers open the season august 29th at Beavercreek.
