Dayton Police Department Releases Homicide Incident Updates
DAYTON -- The Dayton Police Department provided media with a Homicide Incident Updates 2013, which is a timeline summary of recent homicides within the city and the latest developments.

Tuesday, January 1, 2013 - 1007 hours
Officers were dispatched to 613 Hulbert Street on an open door.  Officers found Bradlee E. Thompson WM30 deceased on the floor of the front room of the house.   Investigation revealed that Thompson had kicked in the door and was shot and killed by the resident of the house.  The case was presented to the Montgomery County Prosecutors Office with charges subsequently being refused (Castle Doctrine).

Sunday, January 13, 2013 - 1123 hours
Officers were dispatched to 2630 Ridge Avenue (Triangle Park) on a man down.   Eligio C. Hernandez WHM44 was found deceased. Detectives have sent Mr. Hernandez’s cell phone to be analyzed.  Detectives have interviewed family and friends to find out Mr. Hernandez’s last known whereabouts and his current activities. The case is still under investigation.

Thursday, January 31, 2013 - 2105 hours
Officers were dispatched to 4032 Prescott Avenue on report of a shooting into a habitation.  Matthew L. Anderson BM20 was the front seat passenger of a car that had just been driven down the 4000 block of Prescott Avenue and received a gunshot wound through the car door and was pronounced on the scene.  Detectives are awaiting results from evidence submitted for analysis.  The case is still under investigation.

Sunday, February 10, 2013 - 1715 hours
Officers received dispatches that a man was seen at the 144 E. Helena Street apartment complex, displaying a rifle or shotgun.  Two uniform Sergeants responded to new calls which stated the subject was now either on Helena Street or in the adjacent Island Park area.  Daniel Holt, WM34 was located at the edge of the park and ordered to drop his weapon.  Instead, Holt lowered the weapon’s barrel, pointing it directly at one the responding Sergeants. At this time both Sergeants fired their duty weapons killing Holt.

Tuesday, February 19, 2013 - 2050 hours
Officers were dispatched to 160 W. Parkwood Avenue on shots fired.  They found Jillian R. Miles WF27 lying on the floor in her family room.  Ms. Miles’ two young children were in the house. They were unharmed.  She was taken to Miami Valley Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.  Detectives have interviewed family members, neighbors, and acquaintances of Ms. Miles.  The case is still under investigation.

Wednesday, February 20, 2013 - 1545 hours
Officers were dispatched to 1544 Hochwalt Avenue.  They found Oscar K. Beason BM92 lying on the basement floor, deceased from gunshot wounds.  Detectives interviewed family members and neighbors.  No suspect information has been developed as of this time.  The case is still under investigation.

Wednesday, February 20, 2013 - 2347 hours
Officers were dispatched to 2060 Ravenwood Avenue on shots fired.  Minutes later, Officers were dispatched to Good Samaritan Hospital on a shooting victim that had just arrived.  They found that Jason E. Rutledge BM29 had been shot while at 2060 Ravenwood Avenue and was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital by his brother, David Rutledge BM29.  An argument had ensued between Tarrell D. Postell BM25 and David Rutledge, with Postell reportedly shooting and killing Jason Rutledge.  Postell was arrested the following morning and charged with Felonious Assault against David Rutledge.  The homicide investigation continues.

Friday, February 22, 2013 - 1515 hours
Officers were dispatched to 2647 W. Riverview Avenue, H&H Service Center/Car Wash, on shots fired.  They found that Willie H. Boddie, Jr. BM28 had been shot to death while sitting in his car parked in front of the business.  Mr. Boddie has a past history of involvement in illegal drugs. Detectives have interviewed eye-witnesses to the shooting.  The case is not believed to be homicide; however, it is still under review.

Friday, February 22, 2013 – 2226 hours
Officers were dispatched to the Rumpke Recycling Plant at 1300 E. Monument on a body found within the cardboard bailing system. Homicide Detectives were called in to investigate.  The body was found to be that of Robert Benedict WM61.  It is unclear how Mr. Benedict got into the cardboard pile that ended up in the baling system.  Lab results are pending. The case is still under investigation.

Saturday, February 23, 2013 - 1814 hours
Officers were dispatched to 1610 Bancroft Street on a shooting. Upon arrival they found Charles L. Black, Jr. BM26 had been shot to death while sitting in his car.  Mr. Black was there to pick up a friend to take out to dinner.  Mr. Black has no history with drugs and Detectives do not believe this was a factor in his death. There is also no connection to Mr. Boddie’s murder, even though he was killed in the similar manner.  Detectives have interviewed witnesses, family, and friends and are developing leads in regards to a suspect. 

Sunday, February 24, 2013 - 1435 hours
Officers were dispatched to 2512 Home Avenue on report of a shooting.  Officers found Briona Rodgers BF13 shot to death and Alonta Culpepper BF13 shot and in critical condition.  Dawan Culpepper (Briona’s mom and Alonta’s aunt) had begun a relationship with Dameon Wesley BM39 last September.  Wesley was paroled from prison in September 2012 after serving 18 years of a 15 year to life sentence for Murder.
On Tuesday, February 26, 2013, around 0100 hours Wesley was taken into custody without incident and interviewed by members of the Homicide Squad.  After an extensive interview, Wesley was booked into the Montgomery County Jail for Murder and numerous additional charges.  The case will be presented to the Montgomery County Grand Jury later this week for an indictment.Dayton Police Department Releases Homicide Incident Updates
