Tickets for Stopover with Mumford & Sons On Sale Friday
TROY -- The Grammy-nominated band Mumford & Sons will headline a concert in Troy on Saturday, August 31 -- the second day of a two-day event called Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers.

Troy is one of three U.S. dates, and one of only five announced worldwide.

According to Main Street Troy Inc., the Stopovers will feature a Friday night concert followed by an all-day Saturday event. Mumford & Sons will headline the Saturday show, "alongside an eclectic and energetic roster of artists curated by the band themselves." A series of smaller events involving local businesses and venues will happen in and around the town.

"Each Stopover combines the intimacy of a community celebration with the excitement of a world-class music festival," Main Street Troy stated in their news release.

The Troy Stopover will begin with a performance on Friday, August 30, featuring Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. A day-long festival of music will continue on Saturday, August 31, with Old Crow Medicine Show, the Vaccines, Bears Den, Half Moon Run, Those Darlins, Willy Mason, and more. Mumford & Sons will perform on Saturday evening.

Tickets to the two-day Stopover in Troy will be $109, with no additional service fees. Each ticket will include a commemorative Gentlemen of the Road Stopover Passport. The Troy Stopover will go on sale at 11 a.m. Friday, February 8.

Troy Main Street Director Karin Manovich said the odds of Troy being selected as a Stopover location is akin to winning the lottery. Hundreds of Main Street programs across the country applied for the festival.

“Troy Main Street, the City of Troy, Troy City Schools, the Miami County Visitors Bureau, and several other community partners have worked together over the past three months with Jam Productions, Ltd. to make this a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the Troy community," Manovich said. "We are all thrilled and honored to have our city chosen as one of just three U.S. cities.”

The outdoor events will also take place in St. Augustine, Fla., Guthrie, Okla., Lewes, UK, and Simcoe, Ontario.

Manovich said Troy was attractive to the band and concert producers due to the vibrant, picturesque downtown; the scenic Great Miami River; the proximity to park space; and camping and performance venue options.

Mayor Michael Beamish often refers to downtown Troy as the “living room” of the community. He welcomes the anticipated thousands of visitors from around the world to the living room.

“We are proud that our community has been recognized for its historic character and amenities and singled out for this unique opportunity,” Beamish said.

Attendance at the two-day stopover in Troy is expected to more than double the town’s population, and generate a significant economic impact for the region. According the Diana Thompson, executive director for the Miami County Visitor’s Bureau, the region can expect an economic impact of $12.6 million.

About this year’s upcoming Stopover tour, Mumford & Sons said: “The Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers are all about live music. We get to put them on in towns not normally frequented by touring bands in busses or splitter vans.
