Question of the Day

Do we need tougher laws against animal abuse?

71.42% YES
28.57% NO

Comment: We just need to have judges that enforce the ones we already have, and attornies and judges to promise to tell the truth and nothing but the truth in our courtrooms, we have a major problem with truth in America today, until it is fixed in our courts so that they will lead by example we will continue to have major problems in our courtrooms and the enforcement of our present laws, it does no good for more laws when they will not be enforced, and who suffers, our children, animals, and the honest people in society. etc. etc. from Troy by Les

Comment: Ohio has laws against animal abuse??? WOW!!! That's a new one. I don't believe in capital punishment but I could make an exception for animal abuse. Don't expect anything from our neanderthal legislators. from sunny downtown Fairborn by the ol' Man

Comment: I think Ohio needs much more stricter, tighter laws when it comes to Animal abuse. from Beavercreek,OH by Dusty

Comment: This will happen over and over again until something is done about it! from Dayton, Ohio by Rhonda

Comment: Yes, I do think there should be tougher laws against animal abuse. from Centerville, Ohio by Carl

Comment: last night 3 pitbulls were found tied to the railroad tracks in moraine 1 was found and rescued the other 2 didnt make it they were run over by the train...on the 1 rescued his ears appeared to have been cut off with scissors, people need to be held accountable for animal abuse...i hope with your help the people involved in this abuse can be found from moraine oh by marsha

Comment: And we also need to make it where the law officers half to do something, instead of waiting for animal control. from Dayton,Ohio by Dan

Comment: Absolutely yes! Animals deserve life and safety from abuse as much as anyone else. Many animals are members of a family, and deserve protection under the law. Any responsible, ethical person would agree. from Lakewood, OH by Halley

Comment: we need to do to the people the same as they did to the dogs' from Dover, ohio by clara

Comment: It's a proven fact that murderers and rapist have harmed animals before. It's a warning sign, let alone just cruel! from Marysville, OH by Jill

Comment: Yes. Its horrible how people can get away with this stuff. We are the animals voice. Changes need to be made. from Hilliard Ohio by Lisa

Comment: Absolutely we do. The attitude that animals can be treated like unwanted garbage must end. So many studies show that people with abusive attitudes toward animals also abuse other people. Regulations won't stop all people, but they will stop some, and will provide a way to catch and rehabilitate others, hopefully preventing worse tragedies. Animal cruelty deserves punishment and rehabilitation. from Springboro, OH by Leslie

Comment: Animal abuse is a small step away from harming a person. How do you hurt an defenseless creature? from Moraine/OH by Mollie

Comment: OMG--YES! Ohio has some of the worst animal law nationally--plus judges who don't apply what limited punishment available. When will they get the connetion between animal--then human-abuse>> from Cincinnati, OH by Barbara

Comment: Well this is a no brainer question! Of course we do!! And we need them ASAP! We need to do so much more to stop the abuse of animals from Columbus Ohio by Annie

Comment: I think we need laws that differentiate companion animals from livestock. There is a strong lobby from those who think stricter generic animal laws would negatively affect their livelihood. from West Chester, OH by Kay

Comment: It's going to keep happening til we have tougher laws because right now they have nothing to fear but a slap on the wrist!!! from Dover, ohio

Comment: I think the laws need to be tougher against animal abuse. I live very close to the train tracks and those two dogs were someones pets and people get very close to their pets, mine are like my children. People drop their pets out here on Vance Rd all the time because they get these animals and can't take care of them. People who abandoned, abuse, fight these animals should have to answer for what they have done! The two dogs on the train tracks were murdered . No excuse the people who did this should be punished with jail time or made to work at the animal shelter just not a fine and and sent on their way. I am sure their are plenty of animal lovers out their that would agree. from Dayton, Ohio by Tracey

Comment: This is just one example of what goes on everyday. Stronger laws and enforced laws are needed--NOW. Studies have shown that these predators move on to harm children. They must be stopped before they move on.... from Cincinnati, OH by Barbara Young

Comment: If the laws were tougher people would think twice about hurting an innocent animal! from Dayton by Sheila

Comment: I think that it is so sad when people hurt selfless defenseless animals who can not protect themselves. What ever people do to animals someone should do to them 10 times over and see how it feels. Example: if you tie a dog to the railroad tracks and leave the animal, someone needs to tie you to the train tracks and run over you 10 times and make sure you don't walk away alive!!!!! from dayton oh by crystal

Comment: The greatest measure of our humanity is revealed in how we treat and protect our children and animals. from Dayton, Ohio by Lisa

Comment: Animals do not have a voice and we must protect them. Anyone that abuses animals will abuse children also. from Waterville, Ohio by Marti

Comment: There is far too much animal abuse and neglect in the world today...we need to have these crimes made into felonies, so that the punishment is equal to the crime. from sharon center, ohio by mitzi
