Comment: Let me put it this way, if a drunk man crashes on the highway, do we try to outlaw cars? NO we target the man not the tool. Taking away our right to own any kind of firearm(including hi capacity guns) is not going to save lives. Security saves lives. I would also like to point out that prohibition has never worked. If they want it they will get it. Yes placing armed security guards is not a perfect solution but it is far better than what Obama and friends are proposing. Why is this? Because every American was given a bill of rights, ten amendments that are considered human rights! Tampering with them in any way shape or form is an attack on our rights. I don't care about updated background checks, that's fine. But I have a right to own an AR (with a 30 round magazine) if I so desire. If you look at the revolution many of the citizens were better armed than any other army out there. The Kentucky long rifle was the height of firearm technology at that time. Comment: While as a law-abiding citizen and responsible firearms owner I am saddened by the tragic events in Newtown, Connecticut, I believe that efforts to impose new restrictions on millions of lawful and responsible firearms owners like me are extremely misguided. The reality for those willing to look at the facts will clearly see that violent crime with firearms has significantly declined since the Federal "assault weapons ban" expired in 2004. This reduction is in large part due to the dramatic increase of conceal carry permits throughout this great nation.
