WASTE WATCH: Martian Food Money?

WASTE WATCH -- You've likely heard of the NASA unmanned rover ''Curiosity'' that's on the surface of Mars right now, but our Waste Watch team discovered that money is being spent for Martian food.

Here's what we mean, NASA is spending a million dollars on recipes to be used by any astronauts we might send up to Mars, including a recipe for pizza.

But the trouble is, NASA is no longer flying any manned spacecraft, and the earliest they hope to send humans to the red planet is 2035.

This year alone, the space agency pain Cornell University and the University of Hawaii $947,000 to study the best food for astronauts to eat on Mars.  But the icing on the cake may be that six volunteers will head to Hawaii for a taste taste of that food.

FOX45 & ABC22 wants to know if you suspect local or state government wasting your money and we will investigate.  Call our Waste Watch tip line at 937-262-1426 or email us at wastewatch@fox45now.com.
